Building Condition Assessments / Design & Specifications for Restoration Projects
NORR and Cion Corp. were retained by Defence Construction Canada to manage and produce Building Condition Assessment reports covering 18 buildings in the Greater Toronto Area.
These reports were required to determine the base line condition of the facilities and provide DCC with recommendations which would assist them in developing a strategic 20-year facilities capital expenditure plan for the assets as well as identifying deficiencies that would present an immediate threat to health and life safety. The assessment was based upon a “walk-through survey” of the facilities, review of client provided documentation and maintenance records and interviews with property management staff. The facilities involved included offices, residences, armouries, fitness buildings and banquet halls and included buildings which ranged in age from modern facilities to structures with heritage status.
In January of 2014 NORR with Cion were retained to provide design and specifications services for six restoration projects (including several for properties reviewed in the BCA reports noted above). The scope of the restoration projects range from building envelope, roofing, mechanical systems and parking lot/site work.
